Selection Standards Information

The STC Division establishes and maintains minimum guidelines for the selection of entry-level Adult Corrections Officer, Juvenile Corrections Officer, and Probation Officer classifications for employment in local corrections agencies throughout California. STC provides a variety of resources and criteria for participating agencies to use in the screening and selection of custodial staff. These entry-level selection and screening tools are made available to agencies and include Medical Screening Guidelines, Vision and Hearing Screening Guidelines, Selection Exams (written and electronic versions offered) and accompanying Candidate Orientation Booklets for applicants. STC recommends that agencies use these minimum selection guidelines solely for pre-employment screening and making entry-level selection decisions.
