WHAT WE DO

The Board of State and Community Corrections provides services to county adult and juvenile systems through inspections of county jails and juvenile detention facilities, technical assistance on local issues, promulgation of regulations, training standards for local correctional staff, and the administration of a wide range of public safety, re-entry, violence reduction, and rehabilitative grants to state and local governments and community-based organizations.

CPGP administers public safety related grant programs to community-based organizations, tribes, and state and local governments.

FSO works with local law enforcement agencies to maintain and enhance the safety and security of local detention facilities.

STC works with California's local corrections systems to improve the professional competence of corrections staff.

CFC administers financing for local construction projects to enhance public safety and conditions of confinement across California.

The Research team works across divisions to collect data, report, maintain databases, and evaluate grant programs and proposals.

ICDR reviews local detention facility death-incident reports, makes recommendations, tracks implementation and makes information available to the public.
