New and Updated Datasets Now Available

3-16-2017

The Board of State and Community Corrections has posted to its website data to help the public and policymakers understand local and statewide conditions that impact the justice system. The 2017 update is now available.

The Budget Act of 2014 required to the Board of State and Community Corrections to establish a set of commonly available performance metrics that could help policymakers better understand how local criminal justice systems are working.  In February, 2015 BSCC published the Performance Metrics for Community Corrections report which identifies and describes a set of performance metrics for community corrections.  Along with the report, BSCC published a dataset of key performance metrics for the state and each county and a set of tables and charts displaying trends over time in these key performance measures for each county.  In subsequent years, BSCC has provided updates of the dataset, tables and charts.

Along with the performance metrics dataset, tables and charts, a set of County Profile reports providing additional information about each county has been made available for the first time.  Included in the County Profile reports are information on each county’s population, the amount and type of crimes reported, the number and types of arrests made, and the number of people being held in the county’s jails.  It is hoped this additional information will help by provide a context in which to better understand a county’s performance metrics.
